What is Halloween, and why do we celebrate it?

Halloween originates from the ancient Celtic festival called Samhain, which was celebrated on November 1 in modern calendars. This festival was based on the belief that on this day, the spirits of the deceased would return to their homes. To protect themselves from these spirits, people would wear costumes and light bonfires.
